Admirable. It is more attractive to imagination then hex map. On the other hand, in hex map players see only their own hex, and the rest is unknown, so there is element of exploration. Both ways of mapping have their pros and cons, it’s hard to decide which is better.
Thanks! I actually use both. My referee maps are hex maps, and I have much more surrounding area that is not pictured here. So there should still be an element of exploration. Also, there are plenty of hidden sites even within the area pictured. I do like PCs to have a little information about the near areas, so that they can make intelligent choices about what to explore. Email me at the address in the upper left of my blog and I’ll send you the rough notes for the referee side of the map, if you are curious (my current players read my blog, so I have been posting only player-facing info recently).
Great map! I especially love the way you placed names.
You have some artistic skill I was unaware of. =O
That’s a great map; efficient and understated, while at the same attractive.
I absolutely love it! The style, the labels, the location names, even the colors. Definitely digging it.
Thanks all! I’m really enjoying doing this prep. I still have some dungeon mapping to finish before I can start running.
